Here are the results of the recent budget and trustee votes for the Plainedge School District. The district had to delay releasing the final vote due to the tightness of a trustee race, one that demanded a recount.

The vote on the $63,555,795 Plainedge School District budget was 3,341 for, 2,044, against.

There were six candidates running for three BOE seats.

Maryanne Capone and Felice Cantatore were running for Richard Mallow's BOE seat.

Ms. Capone received 3,037 votes.

Felice Cantatore received 1,727 votes.

Allan Fox and incumbent Ralph Raymond were running for another seat.

Allan Fox received 2,346 votes.

Ralph Raymond received 2,226 votes.

Steve Lassman and Frank Presuto were running for Thomas Dick's unexpired BOE seat. This was the vote that resulted in a recount.

In the end, Lassman received 2,279 votes, while Frank Presuto hung on to win, receiving 2,284 votes.

Meanwhile, in Massapequa, Dr. Maureen Flaherty, Superintendent of Schools, issued the following statement after voters in that district approved the 2006-07 budget.

"We very much appreciate the community's turnout and support of the school budget," said Dr. Flaherty. "The approved budget allows us to preserve and expand the District's successful programs for all students as well as provide several new programs in a truly cost-efficient manner. Through a continued strong school-community partnership, we look forward to even greater student achievement next year."

The Massapequa budget, which totaled $146,635,290, was approved by a 3,371 to 2,483 vote.
