Eric Grossman, Cliff Roehn, Eileen Reda, Anita Von Himmel, John Niesen and Ruth Maller, all of Massapequa, won awards in the inaugural "Guts & Glory 5 Kilometer Run" on Saturday morning, April 29.
The Run was held at the Town of Oyster Bay's Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa to benefit the Long Island Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. The Run was managed by the Greater Long Island Running Club, with GLIRC's Linda Ottaviano coordinating race directing duties with Susan Gomberg of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
Eric Grossman scored second in the 13-15 age group, while Cliff Roehn was the third-place finisher in the 30-34 age group. Eileen Reda took top honors among the women in the 40-44 age group, and Anita Von Himmel earned the first place medal among the women in the 45-49 age group. Finally, John Niesen took third place in the 75-79 age group, and Ruth Maller was the first place woman in the 75-79 age group.
"We were thrilled at the success of the Guts & Glory 5K," observed GLIRC's Linda Ottaviano. "We were especially happy to see so many folks from the Massapequas join us for the event to help the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation raise some much needed funds for the important work they are doing."
