Opinion

On behalf of the Long Island running community and all those who benefit from the great work being done by the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, I would like to thank the residents of the area surrounding Marjorie Post Park for their patience, tolerance and understanding as we were staging last Saturday's "Guts and Glory 5-Kilometer Run" in support of the Foundation.

I am well aware that some of you may have been inconvenienced last Saturday and I know that, although we did our absolute best to get the word out to the neighborhood in advance, some of you may have been surprised as the runners passed in front of your homes.

I hope that you will accept our apologies for any inconvenience you may have suffered as a result of the 35 minutes that we "borrowed" your roads, and I also hope you will understand that it was a for a good cause.

If you have any suggestions as to how we can minimize the inconvenience to you the next time that we stage a race in the neighborhood, please feel free to call me at 349-7646.

Mike Polansky, President

Greater Long Island Running Club
