On March 25 and 26 the American Black Belt Academy along with the worldwide Kenpo Karate Association will host The American Karate Championships 2006. The tournament will be held at Massapequa High School and will coincide with the academy's annual food drive for the St. Rose of Lima Outreach Program.

This event is open to spectators of the community. Here you will see competitors from throughout the United States and Canada showing off their karate expertise.

The tournament will begin Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. with Team demonstrations, team sparring and self-defense divisions. Sunday the competition will start again at 10 a.m. with forms, weapons and sparring divisions.

Admission for this exciting event is $7 for adults and $2.50 for children. Children under 5 will be admitted free.

Families attending are being asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food that will be collected at the entrance door. Anyone else interested in making a donation may drop it at the karate school which is located on Merrick Road one block west of the high school next to Citibank.
