Winning the New York State Championship wasn't enough for the Massapequa High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team.

When a district middle school student was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the team got together to fight a different battle, one that would not take place on the soccer field.

This time, the talented scholar athletes worked cooperatively with their proud coach, Kerri Jacobs, to plan and facilitate Berner Middle School's first "Kick for a Cure."

Approximately 150 Berner students, along with the team, participated in this event, which was a soccer tournament designed to raise money and support their classmate.

All told, caring Massapequa students raised $4,200, all of which will be donated to The Children's Brain Tumor Foundation.
