Colette Carpenter of Massapequa, senior captain of Stonehill College Women's Lacrosse Team, successfully completed her athletic career by winning her second National Championship in Division II Women's Lacrosse in her final collegiate game. Carpenter scored two goals during the championship game helping Stonehill defeat Westchester University 13-10 on May 15. Stonehill Women's lacrosse team experienced a "Perfect Season" in finishing 21-0 overall and will bring a school-record 27-game winning streak into the 2006 campaign.
For the fourth consecutive year, Carpenter earned 1st Team All-Conference Honors, as well as being named to the ECAC All-Star Team for the fourth consecutive year. Colette is only one of four lacrosse players in Stonehill College's history who earned over 200 career points. In 2003, Carpenter was named Division II Midfielder of the Year, as well as 1st Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse, after Stonehill College won its first National Championship by defeating Longwood.
"Colette is one of our best all-around players," said Coach Michael Daly. "Much like a quarterback, she is our play caller on both offense and defense and her play is consistently poised and passionate."
In June 2005, Carpenter traveled to Australia, playing midfield for the USA. Athletes International Lacrosse Team and participated in the "Down Under Tournament." The USA team earned the silver medal, the best record by any other previous USA Team. The Australian National Team captured the gold medal.
Carpenter has recently been named head coach for the women's lacrosse team at Worcester Polytechnic University, Worcester, MA., where she is a full-time graduate student. Carpenter is a 2001 graduate of Massapequa High School.
