If it seems like the street lights along Broadway and North Broadway in Massapequa/North Massapequa are brighter, it's no illusion. Town of Oyster Bay officials recently announced that the Town has finished installing 95 new high-pressure sodium lights along a stretch of Broadway and North Broadway between Boundary Avenue and Merrick Avenue under a grant obtained with the assistance of State Senator Kemp Hannon.

Other roads slated for new lighting under the grant are Boundary Avenue, North Massapequa; Main Street, South Farmingdale; Merritts Road, Farmingdale; Motor Avenue, South Farmingdale; Hicksville Road, Bethpage/Plainedge; Central Avenue, Bethpage; Hempstead Turnpike, Bethpage; Stewart Avenue, Bethpage; Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road, Old Bethpage Road, Old Bethpage; Plainview Road, Old Bethpage; Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage; Winding Road, Old Bethpage; Central Park Road, Plainview; Gerhard Road, Plainview; Haypath Road, Plainview; Southern Parkway, Plainview; and Washington Avenue, Plainview.
