Commemorating the War's End
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. recently joined with local veterans as they assembled to commemorate the signing of the surrender papers that ended World War II. The event, at the American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale, was capped with a re-enactment of both the signing and the legendary 'Times Square' kiss that celebrated the end of hostilities.

Last Friday, Sept. 9, the Town of Oyster Bay held a ceremonial street sign change, one that honored Michael Costello, a Massapequa resident who perished on Sept. 11, 2001.

Athletic Club Fund-raising Progress
The Plainedge Parents Athletic Club, a newly created parents group formed for the express purpose to raise funds to reinstate the J.V. and varsity sports programs for Plainedge High School, is proud to announce that they have raised over $500,000 toward their goal of $571,000 as of Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Spina Stars in Triathlon
Bob Spina, Jr. placed 5th overall (and 1st in his age group) with a time of 1:06:06 at the Town of Hempstead Triathlon in Point Lookout on Sept. 10. Bob, an attorney is also a multi-sport coach with Long Island Tri Coach. At Ironman USA in Lake Placid in July, he qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii and will be competing there in October. Bob and his wife, Lori lives with their daughters Lauren, Amanda and Sarah in North Massapequa.
