A few months ago, Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine announced plans for the Main Street Mile, a road race that will be held in Farmingdale on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Companions in Courage Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by LaFontaine, will be the primary beneficiary of this event. Proceeds will go toward the building of digital playrooms in local children's hospitals.
The Main Street Mile is sponsored by North Fork Bank and presented by Runner's Edge of Farmingdale. It is a great way for families to join together during the Labor Day weekend. Prizes will be awarded in multiple age groups, including a kids' Fun Run. As an added bonus, any participant breaking four minutes in the mile will receive a $500 bonus.
The fee is $20 if registering on the day of the race. To learn more about the race log onto the Companions in Courage website at www.cic16.org. For more information or to register call The Runner's Edge at 420-7963 or visit http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1228895.
