Cassie Sadoff, a fifth-grader at Birch Lane School in Massapequa Park, was recently named a second-place regional winner in the 2005 Craftsman/NSTA Young Inventors Awards Program. Two men armed with handguns entered a Massapequa home through an open front window at 3:05 a.m. June 13. According to police, the robbers proceeded to the master bedroom, where they woke the owners of the house, a husband and wife, and locked them in the bathroom before escaping, direction unknown, with cash and jewelry.
