Massapequa Park resident Edward Sinisgalli was presented with the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross recently by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino (12th Assembly District) in honor of his distinguished service to our country during WWII.
"We owe a great deal of respect and admiration to the men and women who bravely fought to defend our country against tyranny and evil in WWII. Like all veterans, Mr. Sinisgalli made sacrifices in the name of liberty, and it is my privilege to commend him for his brave and distinguished service to our country," said Fuschillo.
The Conspicuous Service Cross is offered by New York State to acknowledge recipients of various military honors or those who were prisoners of war, at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, directly participated in the D-day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, or have been declared missing in action or killed in action by the Department of Defense.
As a member of the United States Navy, Mr. Sinisgalli served aboard the USS LST 508 and participated in the invasion of France on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In addition to the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross, Mr. Sinisgalli previously earned the American Campaign Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze star.
Senator Fuschillo is continually accepting applications for any of the current awards offered by New York State. Residents who would like further information about any of these military awards should call Senator Fuschillo's office at 546-4100.
