I attended the March 30 meeting at the American Legion Hall in Massapequa with a friend. The purpose of this meeting was both for us to hear Rep. Peter King's opinion on the privatization of Social Security and for him to listen to the concerns and questions of his constituents. Although Rep. King had been invited, he chose not to attend. Over 300 people attended this speak out. All were concerned about the administration's plan to privatize the Social Security system. Not one person who spoke thought it was a good idea.

Congressman King's job is to listen to the concerns of the people in his district. His refusal to attend this town hall meeting was an act of arrogance. There are many on Long Island who are worried about this plan. A number of Congressional representatives have held and/or attended meetings and are listening to legitimate concerns. Where was Rep. King?
