Massapequa Writer Composes Tribute to His Boyhood Hero
For many Long Islanders, watching the much-loved movie, A Christmas Story, each year has become a holiday tradition, along with reciting the familiar refrain, "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!" But many are unaware that Jean Shepherd, the creator of these hilarious anecdotes, first broadcast them on his radio program, then published them in Playboy, reprinted them in books, co-wrote the movie script and then personally narrated the entire film.
