Levinson: Filing Fees to Companies Unnecessary for Nassau Homeowners
Each year, thousands of solicitations are mailed to Nassau County homeowners from property tax services companies and attorneys who tout their ability to help you lower your property assessment and tax bill. The price for their services is usually 50 percent of your first year savings. The catch, according to Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson, is that you will be writing a check for hundreds of dollars to a company or attorney when you could be filing yourself.

Runners Edge Raffle Raises $1,500 to Help Fight ALS
On Sunday, Dec. 12, members of the Long Island running community gathered at The Runner's Edge in Farmingdale to honor the memory of their friend Eunice Harris, who died of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on Sept. 30, for the drawing in a giant raffle to help raise funds to combat the disease that took Eunice away from us. A total of over $1,500 was raised.
