Recently, students from the American Black Academy in Massapequa park competed in a national competition. The event, which was held in Baltimore and sponsored by the Worldwide Kenpo karate Association, attracted students from throughout the United States.

The American Black Belt won first place in the team events in all categories, beginner, intermediate and advanced. This was the first time that all levels were dominated by one school. The teams, which are coached by Mr. Tom LoVarco and his son Christopher had been putting in a lot of extra practice time that really paid off.
