Local Runners Score in Rob's Run Cross-Country Race
It rained the morning of Nov. 28, but lots of local athletes of all ages and abilities were among the 374 runners who braved the elements and crossed the finish line at Stillwell Woods in Syosset in the 12th annual edition of Rob's Run, Long Island's largest "all comers" 5 kilometer cross-country race. The event was conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club in conjunction with the Town of Oyster Bay and Long Island Blood Services. Jim Murray of the Greater Long Island Running Club served as the race director.
Massapequa H.S. to Compete in The Long Island Challenge
A team of four contestants and one alternate from Massapequa High School will challenge Wantagh High School in the first round of the eighth annual Long Island Challenge Dec. 19. The competition, moderated by popular News 12 anchor Scott Feldman, will be shown exclusively on News 12 Long Island at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and again Dec. 25 at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Karate School Sweeps Competition
Recently, students from the American Black Academy in Massapequa park competed in a national competition. The event, which was held in Baltimore and sponsored by the Worldwide Kenpo karate Association, attracted students from throughout the United States.
