The Town of Oyster Bay has applied for a $9,325 grant to plant 75 new trees at John J. Burns Town Park, according to Town Supervisor John Venditto.

Friends of Massapequa Preserve Receives State Grant
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently announced that he secured $3,000 in state grant funding for the Friends of the Massapequa Preserve. The group will use these funds to make DVD and CD-ROM copies of their documentary, Massapequa Preserve - a Natural Wonder in Your Own Backyard, for distribution to local schools and libraries for educational purposes.

Coast First Massapequa Team to Go to Junior League World Series
The 13 and 14-year-old Massapequa Coast Tournament Team won the East Region Junior League Championship and had the honor of playing at the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan Aug. 15-21. This is the first team from Massapequa to advance to the World Series and only the third time since 1981 a team from New York represented the EAST at the Junior World Series.
