The Kiwanis Club of Massapequa recently hosted a program for the American Lung Association's third annual asthma walk to be held Oct. 2 at Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon. Before the end of the meeting, the club had voted to donate $1,000 to sponsor the event and Public Relations Chairman Bill Moseley donated his photography and public relations talents as well.
A kick-off reception is planned for Aug. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Woodlands Country Club at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course on Southwoods Road in Woodbury.
Asthma has been on the increase for the past 20 years, with over 20 million Americans suffering from this illness, and is the leading chronic childhood illness in the country.
For more information on the walk, call HJMT Communications at 432-9133 or check out www.asthmawalk.org. For more information on what Kiwanis does in your community and how to get involved and make a difference, please call Bill Moseley at 785-3945 or go to www.kiwanis.org.
