In Tribute to Kenny Chismar
A procession of Massapequa Park letter carrier vehicles rolled slowly up Park Blvd., through the Village of Massapequa Park, in a recent tribute to letter carrier Kenny Chismar, who died suddenly. The village was Chismar's route. Carrier John Smith led the procession, driving Chismar's LLV (Long Life Vehicle), bedecked with an American flag and two large red carnations in the grille. The carriers sacrificed their lunch break to participate in the tribute, which brought merchants and their customers out onto the street.

Plainedge School Budget Fails
Voters rejected the 2004-2005 Plainedge School District budget this Tuesday, with 1,499 voting against it, and 1,367 in favor. The $55.8 million budget reflected an 8.1 percent increase over the current budget. The increase includes funding for the bond payments on the district's capital construction project.

Massapequa Kiwanis to Host 20th Annual Golf Classic
The Kiwanis Club of Massapequa will hold its 20th Annual Golf Classic on June 14 at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course in Syosset, with Sunrise Credit Services coming on board once again as the major sponsor for the event. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Golf Classic, a special 20th anniversary raffle for a 42" Plasma TV has been added, along with a new "scramble" format and plenty of contests, food and beverages, all for only $165 per player.
