Birch Lane Students Participate in Tranquility Garden Project
Students in Ms. Brandel's third grade class at Birch Lane Elementary School recently worked with parent volunteers and local business owner Steve Mills to assemble and paint birdhouses to be included in a "Tranquility Garden." The Tranquility Garden will be on display at the 25th annual Spring Home Improvement and Remodeling Expo from March 26-28 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Afterwards, the Tranquility Garden will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park, providing parents and recovering children with a quiet place to rest and recover.

Town Denies Application for Lowe's in Massapequa
An application to construct a Lowe's Home Improvement Center in Massapequa that received mixed reactions from residents was recently denied by the Oyster Bay Town Board. "After a thorough review of the record, the board determined that the proposed rezoning would not be suitable for the area," Supervisor John Venditto stated.
