Anthony Gogas, of Massapequa, died suddenly on Nov. 6, 2003. He was an automobile mechanic at P & J Quality Care, Seaford. Father of Christopher and Justin. Arrangements were made by the Arthur F. White Funeral Home. A prayer service was held at the funeral home. Cremation private.

Rita Jorrisch, of Massapequa, who taught library science in her hometown school district for more than 20 years and held several leadership positions in B'nai B'rith, died of cancer on Nov. 7, 2003 at her son's home in Louisville, KY. She was 74.

Born in Brooklyn to Russian immigrants, she graduated from the University of Michigan and married Lloyd Jorrisch, an aeronautical engineer who worked for Edo Corp. in College Point and Grumman Corp. in Bethpage and Calverton.

When their three children were grown, she went back to college in the 1960s and earned a master's degree in library science from C.W. Post Campus of LIU. She taught and helped to administer the libraries at Alfred G. Berner High School, John P. McKenna Junior High School and East Lake Elementary School. She retired in 1991.

"Family was her main priority," her daughter, Amy Jorrisch of Fort Salonga, said. "She was a devoted mother, grandmother and daughter, very attached to all things family. She was the person who gathered everybody together in happy times and sad times."

She served terms as president of B'nai B'rith's Massapequa chapter, as president of the organization's Nassau-Suffolk Council and as a director of its youth program. "She had a great devotion to Israel," her daughter said. "It was an important facet of her life."

A funeral service was held on Nov. 9 in Louisville. Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by two sons, Mark of Louisville and Joel of Laguna Hills, CA; a sister, Elizabeth Carlin of Woodland Hills, CA; and six grandchildren.

Friends and relatives will gather to remember her on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Jorrisch home, 49 Herbert Ave., Massapequa. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Louisville, KY or B'nai B'rith of LI.
