Three applications for development on property located in the eastern portion of Massapequa will be the subject of a special public hearing Nov. 18 by the Oyster Bay Town Board. The hearing will be held in the auditorium of Massapequa High School beginning at 7 p.m.
The first application from Lowe's Home Centers, Inc., and WSNCHS East, Inc., d/b/a Long Island Home, requests a change of zone from 'RI-7' Residential to 'GB' General Business District to construct a Lowe's Home Improvement warehouse and garden center on a 16.62-acre parcel located on the east side of Carmans Rd., north side of Louden Ave. and northwesterly side of Sunrise Highway.
The second application from WSNCHS East, Inc., requests a change of zone from 'RI-7' Residential to 'RSC-25' to construct 308 units of senior housing on 18.35 acres located on the north side of Sunrise Highway, 117.70 feet west of County Line Rd. in Massapequa and on an adjacent 4.23-acre parcel located in the Town of Babylon. The petitioner also has to seek zoning relief from the Town of Babylon to develop the property within the 'RSC-25' zone.
The third application from WSNCHS East, Inc., d/b/a Long Island Home, requests a change of zone from 'RI-7' Residential to 'GB' General Business in order to construct an assisted living facility on 3.27 acres located on the northeast corner of Sunrise Highway and Louden Ave., Massapequa, and on an adjacent 1.44-acre parcel situated in the Town of Babylon. The proposed facility would contain 92 units that would house approximately 134 residents. The petitioner also has to seek zoning relief from the Town of Babylon to develop the property within the 'RSC-25' zone.
Supervisor John Venditto noted that this special meeting is specifically to hear the three applications. All regular town business, including the calling of the calendar and public comment, will be conducted at the 10 a.m. meeting at Town Hall, 54 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay.
