Governor George Pataki recently declared the week of Oct. 27 - Oct. 31 as School Board Recognition Week. This is the 12th year this event has been celebrated.

This special week is designated to commend school board members on their commitment to children, learning and the community. School board members provide an invaluable service, without compensation, setting goals and establishing policy for the school district.

The Massapequa Board of Education will be honored for its service at the regularly scheduled meeting Nov. 6.
