The Nassau County Police Activity League - Massapequa Unit recently announced its newly expanded fall and winter program lineup and registration dates.
Providing quality activity programs for Massapequa area youth since 1962, Massapequa PAL's fall 2003 and winter 2004 program includes boys and girls basketball for grades 2-8; line basketball for beginners in grades k-1; boys wrestling for grades 3-6 (including a brand new beginner's clinic for grades 1-3); bowling, karate and a newly relocated tennis instruction program.
The PAL basketball program has a Line Basketball Division for boys and girls in kindergarten and first grade and separate girls and boys divisions for grades 22-8. Basketball is played December through February. The registration fee is $60. Each player receives a reversible PAL basketball jersey and a participation trophy at the end of the season. Massapequa PAL is also looking for volunteer coaches to assist in this program.
The PAL wrestling program is geared for boys in grades 1-6. Beginning this year, we will offer a new Beginner's Wrestling Clinic for boys in grades 1 thru 3. Boys in grades 4 through 6 will participate in our traditional intramural and travel program. Wrestling will run December through February. The registration fee is $40 for the beginners wrestling clinic and $50 for the intramural and travel program. Every wrestler will receive a PAL wrestling singlet and a year's end participation trophy.
Registration for the basketball and wrestling programs will be held at the Police Activity League - Massapequa Unit office located at 510 Parkside Blvd. (northeast corner of the Massapequa train station) Sept. 25 and Oct. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sept. 27 and Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon. A late registration fee will apply to registrations taken after these dates.
The ever-popular PAL Bowling Program begins the week of Sept. 22 and offers Bumper Bowling for boys and girls ages 4-7, Junior bowling for ages 8-11 and Teen Bowling for ages 12 and up. Massapequa Bowl, 4235 Merrick Rd. (corner of Hicksville Rd.) in Massapequa will once again host our PAL Bowling Program. Registration for all bowling activities will be held at Massapequa Bowl Sept. 15, Sept. 17 and Sept. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. The registration fee is $10. The PAL tennis program will include both beginner and advanced tennis instruction for boys and girls in grades 1-12. This instructional program (6 one hour lessons) has moved this year to Sport Time in Massapequa. The registration fee is 80 for six one hour lessons. PAL Karate is a three month instructional program for ages 7 and up. Classes will meet once a week for a 90 minute session. The registration fee is $50. To register or to get additional information call the PAL Karate office at 971-8835.
Massapequa PAL is one of 32 local units of the Nassau County Police Activity League. Founded in 1945, the Nassau County Police Activity League serves over 50,000 participants throughout Nassau County.
