Scott Brown resigned from the Massapequa School Board Sept. 18 due to family and job responsibilities. The school district appreciates the dedication and service that Brown provided since May 2002.
Consistent with state law, the Massapequa Board of Education will be holding a special meeting Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. in the Central Office boardroom to appoint Maryanne Fisher as the replacement for the board seat vacated by Brown.
Fisher will serve as a board member until the next publicly held election in May 2004. Fisher has served the Massapequa School District in many capacities. She has been active in PTA, has served as president of PTA Council, and as the Jr./Sr. PTA Awards Scholarship Chair. She has also served as a member of the Shared-Decision Making Committee, School Safety Committee, Emergency Management Planning Committee, and the Code of Conduct Committee. Additionally, Fisher has assisted in the selection process used in the hiring of various administrators.
