Though County Executive Tom Suozzi and I agree that we have to make tough decisions to solve Nassau's budget crisis, we shouldn't have to sacrifice our local recreation fields to achieve that important goal. If the county executive were to decide to develop the property at the north side of Old Sunrise Highway for senior housing, instead of recreational fields, I would have to part with him on this issue.

I urge the county executive to preserve the land so that the town can build areas for our children's activities. I will work with him and his administration to find other locations so that we can provide housing for our seniors, which is necessary as it will provide needed tax revenue, while also preserving recreational fields for the residents of the Massapequas.
