Emergency Dispatcher Receives Honors for Response to Massapequa Hostage Situation
The American Red Cross in Nassau County (ARC/Nassau) honored heroes May 6 during the Third Annual Heroes Breakfast at the Garden City Hotel. Each hero was nominated by friends, family or colleagues who were impressed by the individual's show of courage, compassion and strength of character in times of emergency.

MHS Varsity Baseball Players Visit Strip Club, Suspended
Fifteen varsity players and two coaches were suspended from the Massapequa High School baseball team last week after the district received an anonymous letter from a player's parent about a late-night visit to a Florida strip club during a spring break trip.

Plainedge Wellness Council Sponsors Family Fun Walk
The Plainedge Wellness Council is sponsoring a Family Fun Walk May 17 at the Plainedge High School athletic field. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk being held between 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. The walk is open to adults and children of all ages and parents are welcome to walk with pre-schoolers in strollers or wagons. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. In the event of rain, the walk will be held indoors.

Police Officer/Director Maureen Roach recently announced that due to continuing demand, the Nassau County Police Activity League - Massapequa Unit will hold another late registration for its spring/summer program lineup May 15 and May 17.
