The Southampton College Women's basketball team shone bright this season, securing a New York Collegiate Athletic Conference playoff berth. Despite being eliminated in the first round against New Haven, the Lady Colonials had a successful 2002-2003 season, taking a top spot in several of NYCAC statistical categories.

One of the team's star players is Kerry Rueb of Massapequa. This senior forward co-captains the team along with Dani Thomas and Katie Kenny. She place in the NYCAC top 10 for field goal percentage (.450) and is number three on the team for points scored with 9.0. Says coach pat McGunnigle, "She will drive the Lady Colonials to success through example and hard work."

The 2002-03 Lady Colonials may be the best-stocked team McGunnigle has ever coached. "I am working with quality, skilled kids who are very versatile," the coach said. "Our players can really get up court in a hurry."
