Massapequa residents approved a $10.7 million bond by a margin of four to one. This multi-year plan addresses the necessity for additional instruction space at targeted schools to meet the district's growing enrollment. District-wide enrollment will increase by more than 800 students by the year 2010.

"We are very pleased at the outcome and would like to thank the community for their continued support," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lawrence Pereira. The district can now move forward with plans to begin the projects as early as this summer.

"Architects will finalize plans, prepare for bidding, and the district will step up communications with the State Education Department for approval," said Dr. Pereira.

For further information regarding bond projects, residents may visit the districts' web site at www.msd.k12.ny.us.
