Community Approves Massapequa Bond Referendum
Massapequa residents approved a $10.7 million bond by a margin of four to one. This multi-year plan addresses the necessity for additional instruction space at targeted schools to meet the district's growing enrollment. District-wide enrollment will increase by more than 800 students by the year 2010.

UCP Nassau Staffers Support Local Marine in Iraq
Members from the Accounting staff at the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. in Roosevelt were quick to lend a hand when they learned that their co-worker, Chris Whooley's brother, Mike Whooley, an East Meadow native and a U.S. Marine, is serving in Iraq. The group put together a care package filled with sunscreen, soap, snacks and mini footballs. The package also included some American flags that were handmade by the children with disabilities who attend the Children's Learning Center at UCP Nassau. The group said they plan to stay in touch to lend support to Mike and all the other brave and dedicated troops serving our country.

Local Athletes Score in Kings Park 15K Run
Shari Mark of Massapequa Park, Mary Anne Goldman of Farmingdale, Kathleen Schroeder-Nemeth of Massapequa and John Daly of Massapequa led a large contingent of local runners who successfully completed the sixth annual Kings Park 15 kilometer run, which was held on Sunday, March 23. A record total of 781 runners crossed the finish line.
