It's official Plainedge School officials and representatives for the architectural and construction management firms officially "break ground" for the district's new middle school. Shown are Board President MaryAnn Karageorges and Vice President Ellen Ryder with Superintendent of Schools Dr. John A. Richman. In back are Deputy Superintendent Jeffrey Burns, Rick Wiedersum and Michael Tordi from Wiedersum & Sons, architects; Tim Nickel, Jeff Cooper and John Szekolski from Sullivan & Nickel, construction managers. Construction of the middle school on the grounds of the former Northedge School, is part of the $53 million bond issue approved by voters in December 2000. Interior demolition of the east and west wings of the building was completed last fall. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months.
