The Nassau County Police Activity League - Massapequa Unit recently announced its Winter/Spring 2003 Program lineup which includes boys travel lacrosse, girls travel lacrosse, track, karate, tennis and bowling.

A Boys Travel Lacrosse and a Girls Travel Lacrosse program for boys and girls in grades 3 through grade 8 will run from March through June. Players will be responsible for providing their own lacrosse equipment. Details concerning required equipment will be provided at registration. The registration fee is $65. All lacrosse registrants (both new and returning) must submit a photocopy of their birth certificate at the time of registration.

The PAL Track program will run from late April through mid-June for boys and girls in grades 2-9. Practices will be held one day during the week and track meets will occur on Saturdays at various locations throughout the county. The registration fee is $30. Adult volunteers are in great demand for this program.

PAL Bowling offers Bumper Bowling for boys and girls ages 4 to 7, Junior Bowling for ages 8 to 11, and Teen Bowling for ages 12 and up. Massapequa Bowl, 4235 Merrick Road (corner of Hicksville Road) in Massapequa will host our bowling activities. Participants can register for the bowling program during Massapequa Bowl's normal business tours. The registration fee is $10. Call Massapequa Bowl at 541-8000 for schedules and other information.

The PAL Tennis Program will include both beginner and advanced beginner tennis instruction for boys and girls in grades one through 12. This instructional program (six one-hour lessons) will take place at the World Gym in Wantagh. The registration fee is $80 for six one-hour lessons. PAL Karate is a 10-week instructional program for ages 7 and up. Classes will meet once a week for a 90-minute session. The registration fee is $50 for this ten-week program. To register or to get additional information call 971-8835.

Registration will be held at the Police Activity League - Massapequa Unit office at 510 Parkside Blvd. (northeast corner of the Massapequa train station), Jan. 9 and 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Jan. 11 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All registrants will receive a free National Child Protection Identification kit courtesy of the Nassau County Police Activity League - Massapequa Unit while supplies last.
