Residents and commuters alike will be pleased to note that recent renovations to the Massapequa Park train station will be expanded thanks to an $805,000 legislative grant secured by Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman Steven Labriola (12th Assembly District).

Senator Fuschillo (r.), Mayor Altadonna (center), and Assemblyman Labriola review plans for Massapequa Park train station renovations.

The station 'makeover' will include brick paver sidewalks throughout the station plaza, decorative iron tree grates, decorative antique lighting fixtures, new bicycle racks, trash receptacles, outdoor benches, signs, improved pigeon protection, and a new dumpster storage location with improved screening.

"On behalf of the residents of Massapequa Park, I would like to thank Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Labriola for their tireless efforts in working with me to obtain funds for the revitalization of our village train station," said Mayor James Altadonna.

The funding from the state will enhance recent renovations to the train station and will concur with the village's revitalization goals to incorporate the station plaza into the theme of the downtown business district.

"Massapequa Park residents keep the village a tight knit, manicured community, and these added improvements will only increase residents' pride in their charming village," said Labriola. "I am pleased to have partnered with Senator Fuschillo to secure this funding on behalf of the residents and commuters."
