Plainedge voters recently okayed a $45.8 million budget for the 2002-2003 school year, the same budget that was rejected at the polls in May.

Almost 1,000 more voters turned out for the budget re-vote than did for the previous election. The spending package passed easily, 1,533 to 870. The budget had been defeated by a 12-vote margin.

The budget will boost school spending 4.1 percent over last year.
