The Plainedge School District will hold a re-vote on the budget June 25, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Plainedge High School gymnasium. The budget, with an increase of 4.1 percent, is the exact same budget that failed in May.

According to Superintendent Dr. John A. Richman, "This budget carries one of the lowest budget to budget increases in Nassau County. If we were not to present the budget again to residents, and chose to proceed with an austerity budget, it would only hurt children. We could not hold the summer program, there would be limited access to our school fields and gymnasium, and parents could be charged for the cost of students' supplies estimated at approximately $150-$200 per child."

If the district were to go on austerity, the budget increase could be 4.2 percent, which is about $60,000 higher than the budget that is being proposed to voters, according to Plainedge Public Information Head Alice Mateos.
