The Massapequa Lacrosse Booster Club recently reported that the Girls Varsity team has kicked off the season in winning fashion. On March 15, the Chiefs defeated Wantagh, in a non-league game, followed by wins against Clarke, Plainview and Lynbrook.

Returning varsity players include seniors: Captain Jenna Martone, Captain Tiffany Smith, Captain Patricia Cowley, Jessica Hamilton, Kerry Johnston, Jennifer Rath; Juniors: Kristin Buckley, Kathryn Carpenter, Jessica Disimile, Lauren LoMonaco; Sophomores: Nicole Rapacki, Erica Sosnowski, Kristen Teatom, Danielle Torre.

The Varsity welcomes Senior Michelle Duffy; Juniors: Courtney Aiello, Elissa Karol, Kerry Krohn, Aimee Parlatore, Jessica Savior, Regan Shelley, Lisette Silver, and Freshman Lauren LaBella.

Head Coach Kristen Newman, in her fourth year as varsity coach, is again joined by Assistant Coach Tiffany Penta, in her second year of coaching. Under Coach Newman, Massapequa Girls Varsity Lacrosse earned Conference 1, Co-Championship Title in 2000. This was a first in Massapequa Girls Lacrosse history. Last year, the Lady Chiefs again experienced a winning season making it to the second round of the playoffs, where they were defeated by the top-seeded Port Washington team.

This year's team, with its experienced, aggressive defense, and highly-skilled and athletic offense looks forward to another successful season.
