I am writing to dispel several rumors that have been circulating throughout the Town of Oyster Bay. First, many residents are under the impression that council members represent particular districts or areas in the Town. This is simply not true. All six councilmembers and the supervisor are elected at-large and represent and serve the residents of the entire Town, from Bayville to Massapequa and everywhere in between.

While I live in Woodbury and am, therefore, quite familiar with the issues concerning residents on the North Shore, I travel the Town frequently meeting with residents and business owners. I speak often before the chambers of xommerce, and held numerous focus groups to garner support for my Master Plan initiative.

Either I or a representative regularly attend civic and community meetings. I am, therefore, well-versed on matters affecting all of our residents, not merely those in my community.

Additionally, I would like to clarify some confusion regarding the Town's Master Plan process. Some residents mistakenly believe that the Town is not moving forward with a Town-wide Master Plan, but is instead only proceeding with individual hamlet plans. This is also untrue. It was at my urging that the Town decided to embrace the Master Plan concept. I can assure you that the Town has not abandoned the Master Plan in favor of individual hamlet plans. While the Town is proceeding with hamlet plans in Oyster Bay, Syosset and Hicksville, it remains committed to drafting a Master Plan for the entire Town.

I would like to leave the residents of Oyster Bay with this message: You may call on me no matter where you live and I will continue to work hard to represent you. My phone number at town hall is 624-6358.

Bonnie A. Eisler

Town of Oyster Bay Councilwoman
