New Year's Resolution: Give Blood
Mark your calendars for Jan. 25, when the North Massapequa Fire Department will host a blood drive at Fire Department Headquarters (Broadway and Albany Ave.) from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The fire department will provide refreshments for everyone who attends the blood drive.

Massapequa Runners Score in Holiday Run
A record breaking total of 1,253 runners and walkers crossed the Bethpage High School finish line at the 14th Annual Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run held Dec. 22. 1,474 runners were registered for the event, also a record.

Massapequa Girls Varsity Volleyball Team Completes Stellar Season
The Massapequa Girls Varsity Volleyball team recently completed their season with a record of 15 wins and only 2 losses. Not only did they go on to claim the title of Conference I Champions, but they were also declared Nassau County Class A Champions. This was no easy feat, considering that this is the second year that they have been declared Class A Champions. On the team, the ladies have received award after award also. Kerry Krohn was appointed by The Nassau County Coaches Association as Nassau County's Most Valuable Player and was elected to All-County. Kristin Hoffman was also awarded All-County, Megan Joyce received an All-County Honorable Mention, and both Megan Zuena and Kerri Weinstein received the title of All-Conference.

Massapequa Athlete to Face Off in All-Star Vytra Cup Hockey Tournament
Steve Zaffuto, the pride of Massapequa High School, will represent the Nassau team as one of the 21 high school students taking to the ice in the quest for the acclaimed Vytra Cup. Zaffuto and fellow teammates will compete against Suffolk rivals in the 6th annual Vytra Cuip tournament at Nassau Coliseum Jan. 5, beginning at 1 p.m.
