New York State Assemblyman Steve Labriola (R, Massapequa) and Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto met recently with residents of Massapequa to review the ongoing dredging project at Unqua Lake at Marjorie Post Park.

(L.-r.): Nassau County Department of Public Works Hydrologist II Scott Urban, Labriola, Nassau County Department of Public Works Inspector Joe Grippaldi, resident Bob Boyle, Nassau County of Public Works Hydrologist III Brian Schneider and Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto.

Nassau County Department of Public Works dredged approximately 2000 cubic yards of sediment from the northern boundary of the pond. The excavated material will be utilized by the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department on the Marjorie Post Park property. The material has been tested and is well within the limits for transport and disposal to suitable upland locations. Upon completion of the project, the county will restore the eastern shoreline.

"I am extremely pleased that this project is in its final stages. It was challenging in as much as I had to coordinate the efforts of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Nassau County Department of Public Works, and the Town of Oyster Bay Parks Department to achieve this long-term solution," Labriola said.
