At their recent opening day ceremonies, Massapequa Mustangs marked 60 years of volunteer service. Nassau County Legislator Peter J. Schmitt, the Republican delegation leader of the Legislature, presented special citations to Past League President Frank Petruccelli and current League Commissioner Joe Gillespie honoring each man for 30 years of service to the Massapequa Mustangs.

(L. - r.): Councilman Len Symons; Commissioner Joe Gillespie; Schmitt; Supervisor John Venditto; Past President Frank Petruccelli; County Clerk Karen Murphy; and County Comptroller Fred Parola. Front row (l. - r.): Katie Hayes; Megan Hayes; Brian Hayes; and Thomas DeSilva.

"Thirty years of volunteering their time and talents," said Schmitt, "has helped immeasurably to make the Mustangs the premier football program for our community - serving over 1,000 Massapequa boys and girls this year," said Schmitt. "They have helped build Massapequa into one of the finest communities in the country in which to live, and we all salute them."
