Massapequa Park Senior Celebrates 100 Years
Lyndall Corali of Massapequa Park celebrated her 100th birthday at her weekly bingo game held at Massapequa Elks #2162. The Elks Bingo Committee arranged for a celebration and Nassau County Legislator J. Schmitt joined in with a special Nassau County Legislative Citation, which proclaimed June 19 as "Lydall Corali Day" in Nassau County. Board Votes to Settle Nassau Towers Lawsuit
A motion was made and put to the vote June 25 at the Massapequa Park Village Board Meeting to settle an existing lawsuit with Nassau Towers and Sprint Spectrum which will permit a 140 foot high tower to remain on Village Hall property. Trustees Gail Klubnick, John O'Brien, and Bob Wilcox voted in favor of the settlement, with trustee Joseph Pinto and Mayor James Altadonna voting against it.

Massapequa Park Resident Chosen PSU Athlete-of- the-Year
Women soccer's Christie Welsh, a Massapequa Park resident, was selected as Penn Sate University's Athletes-of-the-Year for 2000-01, school officials announced June 19. As the Nittany Lions' Honoree, Welsh's name is now on the ballots for the Big Ten Female Athletes-of-the-Year, which will be announced the end of June.
