As a resident of the Massapequa community, have you noticed the changes taking place in our community?
Traffic is choking our roadways. Sunrise Highway is worse than the Long Island Expressway.
Larger planes from Republic Airport fly overhead resulting in noise and air pollution.
A plume of contamination is heading in our direction from the Liberty Aircraft Superfund site and could affect our water.
More dense housing per acre is being proposed in many areas, resulting in overcrowding.
South Oaks Hospital is selling off over 50 acres which is being proposed for Senior Citizens units, Assisted Living Units, apartment units and a Lowe's Department store, all of which would result in more traffic on Sunrise Highway, more noise, and more problems in an already overused area.
Sterns is leaving the Mall. J.C. Penny is reportedly having difficulties and may be the next casualty. And a new mall is being proposed on the Cerro Wire Property--which will surely devastate the Sunrise Mall.
We are a community in chaos and too few residents seem to care about their safety and property values.
If you care about your homes, the safety of your family and what is happening in your community, we urge you to attend this community meeting.
The meeting will be held June 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Marjorie Post Park, Unqua Rd. in the Community Meeting Room.
We will discuss the above mentioned problems and anything you feel may be important to the Massapequa community. This meeting is for you!
