Local High Schools Bring Trout to the Classroom
On Thursday, May 10, several students from Farmingdale and Massapequa High School released approximately 75 brook trout, the native trout species of Long Island, into Massapequa Creek as part of the "Trout in the Classroom" program sponsored by the Long Island Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

Columbus Lodge Grind Out First Win in New League
For the Sons of Italy-Columbus Lodge #2143 softball team, the 2001 season has been a journey to rediscover the explosive bats and splendid defense that carried them to last year's second place finish in the South Shore Softball League. This year, having dropped their first three games in their inaugural season in the Nassau Conference Men's League, the Lodge's Golden Lions took a step forward by grinding out an impressive 11-7 victory over "Club 21 12."
