Plainedge Schools to Vote On New Budget
The Plainedge Public Schools 2001-2002 school budget will be put to the vote May 15. The proposed $43,997,944 spending plan reflects a 8.2 percent increase over last year's expenditures, and a 2.2 percent increase in the estimated tax rate. Included in the budget are many new programs, such as the implementation of full day kindergarten, a revised math program, and a four-week Summer Enrichment program.

Significantly reduced expenditures, a stable tax base, and an $8,000 appropriation for seniors and youth services were some of the highlights of newly elected Mayor James Altadonna's proposed 2001-02 budget, which he presented at a well-attended Massapequa Park Village meeting April 23.
