I am writing to make the merchants of North Massapequa aware of an upcoming event being run by the North Massapequa Fire Department Sept. 15. The North Massapequa Fire Department will host the 6th Battalion Parade and Drill in recognition of Ex-Chief Frank A. Nocerino as chairman of the Nassau County Fire Commission.

The parade will start promptly at 6 p.m. from North Broadway and North Iowa Ave. and conclude at the parking lot of Schwarting School. A gala block party and carnival will take place on the grounds immediately following the procession.

Needless to say, the event will be an enormous undertaking and will require the support of our entire community, as well as all the vendors that we have dealt with in the past. You can show your support to the North Massapequa Fire Department, as well as advertise to all who will come out to participate in the parade and drill by taking an ad out in our department's journal. Congratulate Ex-Chief Frank A. Nocerino for his outstanding service and, at the same time, help support and be a permanent part of our celebration.

Journal spaces are available, from business card size to a full gold page, by contacting the chief's office at 579-0900 at your earliest convenience, but no later than July 1.
