"This $450,000 contract will see the installation of new curbs, decorative street lights, park benches, planters, trash receptacles and new walkways and trees in the downtown Massapequa Park area," Schmitt said in announcing the project.
The project, which will take approximately six months to complete, will improve the area on Park Blvd. from Front Street to Clark Blvd. It will bring improvements similar to what the county installed on Broadway in Massapequa last year. "This is a further example of the commitment of Nassau County to strengthening our Downtown area and I am delighted to be able to bring these improvements to Massapequa Park," said Schmitt.
"The concept for this Massapequa Park project was begun in cooperation with the Village of Massapequa Park, with Village Mayor Camillo Giannattasio being a tireless advocate for the project in the village," he added.
"The village board, and myself as mayor, am very pleased to have successfully worked with Legislator Schmitt to bring this important improvement to our village," said Giannattasio. "It will be a major improvement to one of the best downtown areas in the county, and we thank Legislator Schmitt for his efforts."
"I am very proud to have secured this project for Massapequa Park," said Schmitt. "It is a vivid example of what can be accomplished in cooperation between the county and the village for the benefit of all of the residents."
