As we emerge from the winter's freeze, we should all take notice of our transforming neighborhood. It appears that a select group, devoid of community respect, is guiding the future of our suburban landscape. The monstrous funeral home, the row housing along Whitewood Drive, and the monolithic communication tower erected in front of the Massapequa Park Village Hall, are insulting examples of how our quality of life is being attacked. As if this weren't enough, another communication tower is being proposed near the Massapequa High School, as well as a four-story expansion to the Bar Harbor Motel. Enough already!
As invested residents, we need to act now to halt the erosion of our community's aesthetics and value. Let our public officials know that they must do a better job of defending the charm of our suburban community. We must insist that our public officials work for, listen to, us, instead of special interest groups.
