The Massapequa volleyball Chiefs recently completed a successful season. They started the season ranked number 2 with a team roster of 13 players: 3 seniors, 5 juniors, 4 sophomores and 1 freshman. The team finished the season number 1 with a 13-1 league record and a 16-2 overall record. The Varsity Chiefs completed one of the greatest seasons in the school's history. They claimed the titles of Nassau County Class "A" Championship and the Conference I.

The Chiefs defeated Herricks for the quarterfinals 3-0, Long Beach for the semi-finals 3-0, and swept Baldwin 3-0 for the county finals. Senior captain Kate Fuchs was named the Nassau County Most Valuable Player as well as All-County. Junior Kristin Hoffman and sophomore Kerry Krohn were also named All-County.
Senior captain MaryKate Castellani was named All-County Honorable Mention and the All-Conference players were senior Erika Borgeson and junior captain Megan Zuena. Kate, MaryKate and Kristin were also selected on the Nassau County Volleyball Coaches Association all-Tournament team.
Besides having an outstanding athletic performance, the Chiefs were able to maintain a team grade point average (GPA) of 96.137, second in New York State. "I would like to thank the team for a terrific season, as well as helping me achieve the honor of Nassau County Coach of the Year Award," noted the team's Coach, Carol Ann Habeeb. "We all believed and achieved! Congratulations!"
