I recently read that Nassau County Republican legislators called upon County Executive Gulotta to not seek re-election.

Do they think that we will forget that they also voted for past county budgets, or that they helped create a $60 million shortfall which led to the downgrade of the county's bond rating? It is foolish to try to make the county executive a scapegoat. If Republican legislators learned anything from recent history, it should be that the last time they ran for re-election they had 13 Republican colleagues running with them and while they sought cover in blaming others, the Democrats took control of the county legislature.

I hope that Republicans will learn from their mistakes and unite to limit government and spending. To do otherwise invites political failure in November - a failure that the residents of Nassau County cannot afford.
