Many of Plainedge High School's top athletes received awards at the Fall Varsity Awards Night, sponsored by the Plainedge Parents Club and the Plainedge Athletic Department which was held on Dec. 14 at the high school.
Most Valuable Player awards were given to Joseph Mastrangelo, football; Kevin Hoey and Daniel Marascia, boys soccer; Lauren Ruggiero, girls soccer; Laura Gisonda, girls volleyball; Amy Brida, cross country; Tracy Goldstein, girls tennis; Steven Memoli, varsity golf; and Lauren Lanteri, cheerleading. Coaches Awards were given to Mike Fiorenza, football; Jesse Siegel, soccer; Joanna Taylor, girls soccer; Jessica Hance, girls volleyball; Erin Baker, cross country; Nicole LaPeruta, girls tennis; Joseph Petralia, varsity golf; Marissa McConnin, cheerleading.
Additional honors in football include: Joseph Mastrangelo, All County Honorable Mention; Michael Cervini and Michael Galligan, All-Conference. In boys soccer, Anthony Farinella was named All-County Honorable Mention, while Brad Cohen, Chris MacDonald and James Willis were honored for All-Conference. The girls soccer team was also successful with Elizabeth Babyatzky and Melissa Taylor being awarded All Class. Courtney Treacy was named All Conference and Lauren Ruggiero, All County. Samantha Eng, Jaime Geagan and Courtney Martinez were all awarded All Conference for girls volleyball. All Division awards for cross country was awarded to Erin Baker, Amy Brida, Eric DiCapua, Jessica Fiorenza, Eva Natal, Ashley Quinn, and Ashley Scannello. Additional awards for cross country were Erin Baker, Amy Brida, Eric DiCapua for All Conference; Amy Brida was also awarded All County, and State Qualifier. Grace Yoon received All Conference for girls tennis while Steven Memoli received All County for varsity golf. Page Carol Clark received All County and State Qualifier as an independent swimmer.
